POSITION SUMMARY :

The Vice President, Sales, Asia Pacific is responsible for leading the commercial efforts across the Asia Pacific Division (excluding China), with responsibility for direct sales, channel sales through distribution partners, and regional go-to-market strategy. This position is responsible for building and managing a high-performing team, cultivating and overseeing distributor relationships, and collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, field service, customer support, and technical support teams in a matrixed environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies to drive revenue growth and expand market coverage.
  • Build and manage a direct sales team in key markets.
  • Facilitate the hiring of support functions (field service, applications support, regional marketing) in region, both for direct and channel markets.
  • Identify, onboard, train, and manage distributor partners across the region.
  • Set and manage performance targets for distributors and ensure strong customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align regional activities in marketing, inside sales, field service, and technical support.
  • Provide regional input into global commercial strategy, product positioning, and customer messaging.
  • Oversee product launches, marketing campaigns, and customer initiatives tailored to regional needs.
  • Ensure a high-quality customer experience and professional, scalable commercial operations.
  • Regularly travel within the region to engage customers, team members, and distribution partners.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field required.
  • o Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) strongly preferred.

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in sales leadership within life science tools companies, with a proven track record across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Deep experience in managing distribution partnerships, launching new products, and building customer relationships.
  • Prior experience with genomics, proteomics, or analytical measurement platforms strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with or for U.S.-based companies operating in Asia is highly desirable.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Strong leadership skills and experience building high-performing, multicultural sales teams.
  • Familiarity with matrixed organizations and experience coordinating across functions such as field service and marketing.
  • Expertise in selling complex solutions that include instrumentation, assays, reagents, and software.
  • Demonstrated success in the life sciences research market (pharma, academic, government, research institutions).
  • Strong business acumen, negotiation and mediation skills, as well as a demonstrated attention to detail and a focus on achieving quality outcomes. Ability to build / foster relationships.
  • A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of employees as well as other parties / stakeholders involved with the company.
  • Attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to excellence and performance improvement and the drive to deliver quality and value-added results and outcomes.
  • English fluency required; additional Asian language skills a plus.
  • Ability to travel extensively that can include overnight stays and working work outside normal business hours as needed.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about customer sites and travel on a regular basis.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT :

    This position is performed in a traditional home office environment, when on travel, it varies.
