The Position
The Head of Planning, Performance and Governance (CoE) is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring strategic alignment, execution discipline, and operational oversight across the Digital function. This role provides centralized leadership over governance, planning, performance management, stakeholder engagement, and communications.
Internal Relationships :
- Senior IT and business executives to support alignment and execution of digital priorities.
- Digital Technology leadership team to ensure coordination and delivery.
- Support functions including finance, HR, legal, risk, and communications.
External Relationships :
Strategic vendors, advisors, and industry associations to track trends and support engagement.Major Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and drive the strategic agenda in alignment with enterprise and Digital Technology goals.Support the development and implementation of Digital strategies that align with the organization's broader business goals.Lead cross-functional planning, governance forums, and enterprise technology alignment initiatives.Operational Excellence
Oversee budget tracking, operational reporting, and performance management metrics for the function.Coordinate strategic initiatives, ensuring resource alignment and execution discipline.Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the Digital function, including calendar and cadence management for key governance forums.Innovation and Technology Advancement
Identify and explore new technologies and solutions that drive business innovation and operational efficiency.IPromote a culture of experimentation and agility within the technology organization.Lead adoption of tools and practices that enhance collaboration, agility, and transparency across the Digital function.Project and Special Initiatives Management
Oversee and coordinate high-impact, cross-functional Digital projects, including major technology implementations and transformations.Serve as an escalation point and advisor for program delivery risks and issues.Manage and deliver special projects as requested by the CIO.Financial Planning and Management
Lead financial planning and reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, and investment planning.Ensure alignment between financial resources and strategic priorities.Partner with Finance to maintain fiscal discipline across the Digital Technology function.HR and Organizational Development Support
Partner with HR to support IT talent management, recruitment, training, and leadership development.Coordinate succession planning and workforce strategy initiatives within the Digital organization.Foster a culture of professional growth and inclusion across the function.Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a strategic liaison between the Function and internal / external stakeholders.Ensure consistent and aligned messaging, strategic communication, and executive reporting.Manage stakeholder escalations and support engagement in key enterprise-level decisions.Risk Management
Oversee risk identification, escalation, and mitigation.Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements across all initiatives supported by the Function.Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Establish and maintain dashboards and KPIs to track delivery, transformation progress, and leadership priorities.Provide strategic reporting to executive committees, boards, and audit functions as needed.Key Deliverables
Quantitative KPIs :
Timeliness and quality of reporting and executive communications.Net Promoter Score (NPS) from internal Digital stakeholders.Resource efficiency within the subfunction.Qualitative KPIs :
Strategic impact of initiatives.Executive and stakeholder satisfaction with coordination and governance support.Contribution to Digital function agenda execution and enterprise alignment.Quality of relationships and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.Qualifications
Education / Training Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field.Master’s degree or MBA preferred.Certifications in project management, change management, or business strategy (e.g., PMP, Prosci, ITIL) are advantageous.Experience :
Minimum 15 years of experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a Governance, planning, portfolio management, or senior governance role.Demonstrated success in managing complex, cross-functional initiatives.Proven track record in stakeholder engagement, executive reporting, and governance.Tell employers what skills you have
