Salling Search is currently assisting an international shipping company to look for a General Manager, Marine Operations for their Singapore office.

Only candidates with the following experience and qualifications will be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily marine operations to ensure vessel safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Manage fleet performance, including voyage planning, fuel use, dry-docking, and special projects.
Lead incident investigations and maintain emergency response plans in collaboration with HSE.
Drive cost-effective practices, digital adoption, and cross-functional coordination across teams.
Represent the company in audits, inspections, and industry forums.
Lead and develop the marine operations team to meet high operational standards.

Requirements

Degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a related maritime field.

Preferably certified as Chief Officer (Class 1) or Chief Engineer.

10+ years' experience in marine operations, both at sea (Master / Chief Engineer) and ashore.

Strong leadership in managing teams and aligning with technical and commercial departments.

Deep knowledge of maritime rules, safety, navigation, and cargo operations.

Proficiency in Mandarin is required, as the role requires regular verbal and written communication with Chinese speaking stakeholders.

Strong reporting, analysis, and system skills.
