Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel, Surbana Jurong, the Chief Compliance Officer will be responsible for designing and managing all compliance related programmes for the SJ Group.
Key responsibilities include :
Leading a team of 6-9 compliance professionals in the countries the SJ Group operates in;
Aligning the compliance strategy with business strategy, legal and regulatory requirements;
Deploying resources to discharge Group Compliance’s mandate to protect the assets, brands, and reputation of the SJ Group;
Leading the Group Compliance team by setting individual objectives, reviewing performance, and providing on-going feedback;
Maintaining SJ Group Compliance policies relating to reporting of violations and concerns and provide management with relevant metrics;
Overseeing the assessment of new laws, regulations and trends and their applicability and implementation to SJ’s operations to ensure that all relevant risks are fully identified and managed;
Ensuring Group Compliance conducts annual and periodic compliance risk assessments to satisfy minimum internal and external regulatory requirements and validate assessment results with the relevant management, and governance committees;
Ensuring the corporate governance system operates to ensure the businesses are compliant with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements;
Review existing compliance programme and ensure that it is robustly implemented across the SJ Group;
Identifying, participating, and leading compliance projects as they arise within defined scope and timeframe and in accordance with agreed cost and quality and other KPI targets.
Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success
Minimum 20 years operational compliance experience in global organisations, with at least the last 5 years at senior management level with experience managing or reporting directly to board and C-suite.
Tertiary degree or equivalent in law, finance, business, or commerce
Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
Demonstrated capacity for commercial oriented problem solving.
Process improvement orientated, and ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
A proven track record in implementing and maintaining ISO37001 certification and compliance programmes.
Ability to draft detailed, logical, well explained and comprehensive decisions and explain complex compliance, regulatory and legal concepts in plain English.
