This purpose of this role is to assist the HSE Manager to enhance the overall Safety Culture of the organisation.
Do note that this is a shift-based role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance the HSE policies and guidelines in accordance to both GEHSMS and local standards
- Enforce and ensure compliance to our in-house Safety rules and regulations
- Conduct briefings of safety related incidents or case studies to promote safety awareness
- To conduct and support HSE audits / inspections on current HSE procedures to identify gaps and to propose well defined Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
- Lead incident investigation and determine Root Cause Analysis and CAPA
- To track outstanding CAPAs to ensure timely completion and effective closure
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements submitted by contractors
- Develop new initiatives and programs to enhance the safety culture
- Develop HSE training materials for staff and contractors
- Organises safety training for staff and dependent contractors on a regular basis
- Work with company management to identify safety-related issues as well as supervise adherence to safety rules
- Prepare for audits by government officials or external certifying bodies
- Lead and support Culture Based Safety / Courage to Care program
- Lead in managing and control chemical compliance in accordance with local and GEHSMS requirements
- Lead development and enhance Process Safety policies and program
- Lead Process Safety related projects and documentations
- Lead environmental sustainability project
- Provide EHS support including but not limited to emergency during 2nd shift
- Lead and Execute aligned action plans to close the identified gaps
- Any other ad hoc duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in either Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical EngineeringMSc in Safety, Health & Environment or Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health is an added advantageCSP, CIH holder is an added advantageExperience and knowledge of Process SafetyKnowledge in ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 EHS Management SystemRegistered Fire Safety Manager is an added advantageRegistered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) is an added advantageISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Lead Auditor is an added advantageExperience with industrial or manufacturing safety programs and initiatives desirableA certified Work at Heights Assessor an added advantageA certified Confined Space Assessor an added advantageKnowledge of general safety, training and environmental concepts, standards and practicesMust be observant and proactive at all times when it comes to issues related to workplace safetyAbility to work with a senior leadership team and to communicate effectively with all levels within the organizationAbility to retain confidential informationProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerpointStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent coordinating abilities that are of the highest standardsPossess solid problem-solving and analytical abilitiesAble to work under minimal supervision
