Overview

Commercial Director – SEAJA

Location - Remote Asia

The SEAJA business includes three parts : Australia Sales Office, Singapore Thermal Sales Office, Taiwan Sales Office, and Japan Office.

The Commercial Director is responsible for developing and implementing business plans to grow sales revenue and profitability. This includes designing the overall business strategy for the cluster (including marketing and sales) and implementing it through an aligned organization and cost structure, demonstrating strong leadership in integrating the sites into one effective and profitable reporting unit.

Sitting on the Asia Thermal Ceramics’ leadership team, the Commercial Director will report directly to the Managing Director of Thermal Ceramics Asia and will contribute to the company's strategy and growth agenda.

Key complexities of the role include :

  • The SEAJA business spans multiple countries including Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Taiwan.
  • The Japan business operates as a Joint Venture, while Singapore and Taiwan are cross-GBU sites.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SEAJA business (South East Asia, Australia, Japan, Taiwan) profit and loss (P&L), with responsibility for growing sales, gross margin, and managing overheads to ensure sustainable profitable growth.
  • Lead the business strategy to identify key growth opportunities, establish cost-effective functions, and operate with an appropriate organizational and cost structure.
  • Provide strong leadership, proactively manage performance, and align team objectives to meet strategic and operational goals.
  • Drive profitable growth by implementing strategies to capture opportunities and resource the business effectively.
  • Oversee the execution of all Sales & Marketing activities to deliver profitable results.
  • Standardize Customer Service processes across countries.
  • Manage overheads to ensure they are appropriate for the business size and scope.
  • Establish high-trust, collaborative, and high-performance practices, processes, and behaviors.
  • Coach key team members to enhance performance and support development.
  • Contribute to the development of the Asia Thermal Ceramics strategy as a member of the leadership team.
  • Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, or Masters / MBA (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience managing a profit and loss account with over GBP30M annual turnover.
  • Proven track record of devising and implementing strategies that result in business and profit growth.
  • Experience as a General Manager in a decentralized business with full P&L responsibility.
  • Management experience in a related industry or similar environment.
  • Leadership in innovative, engineering, and sales-focused teams.
