Job description

Job Summary :

The Commis Chef is an entry-level position responsible for supporting daily food preparation and assisting chefs in various kitchen sections. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about cooking and eager to learn professional culinary techniques in a fast-paced catering or restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in basic food preparation such as washing, cutting, peeling, marinating, and portioning ingredients.
  • Support the Chef de Partie and other senior chefs in cooking, plating, and setup.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the workstation and kitchen equipment.
  • Follow recipes and instructions carefully to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Help with packing and labelling food for catering events or takeaway.
  • Receive and store kitchen supplies following proper food safety practices.
  • Follow all SFA food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Assist with cleanup and closing duties after service.

Requirements :

  • No formal qualification required; WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is a plus.
  • Fresh graduates or entry-level candidates are welcome.
  • Willing to learn, hardworking, and able to follow instructions.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Willing to work on weekends, shifts, and public holidays if required.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene preferred.
