POSITION SUMMARY

The Analyst will provide market intelligence and increase the overall analytical capacity in the shipping business units. Your prime focus will be market research (developing inhouse view), business analysis and business development and optimization. The analyst will also support strategic projects and strategic management programs at Strategic Business Unit (SBU) level based on evolving business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Market analysis and Reporting

  • Perform general industry, competitors’ and macroeconomics research / analysis, follow industry trends, new technologies for the Dry and Wet markets as well as new segments
  • Promote and enhance market awareness and support business to further develop the inhouse market view
  • Maintain and further develop market research models, methodologies and relationships with industry experts / Sales & Purchase (S&P) brokers
  • Participate in market presentation and briefing on the industry trends, opportunities and threats

Business Analytics and Presentation

  • Provide continuous updates to the management team and support the preparation of material for management meetings
  • Create and maintain standard analysis templates, models, and reporting files
  • Perform standard and ad-hoc business analysis and reporting (portfolio analysis, performance monitoring, cost controlling etc.)
  • Maintain Databases, Standardization of Procedures and Ad-hoc Projects

  • Maintain analytical and reporting databases, distribute information and promote standardization by developing standard templates and models
  • Support the development of SOPs and Policies
  • Involved in other ad-hoc cross-departmental projects
  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Maritime Studies, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role. Candidates with 5-7 years of experience will be considered for a Senior Analyst role
  • Previous experience in shipping, oil & gas or real estate is a plus but not mandatory (although candidates should show keen interest for the shipping markets)
  • Basic knowledge of financial analysis is a must with excellent skill in Microsoft Excel and modelling
  • Possess analytical and quantitative skills, keen business acumen, able to perform cause and effect analysis and interpret the market dynamics
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision and meet tight deadlines
  • Must be comfortable working with all levels of management across all departments of the company
  • Good written, communication and presentation skills
