Roles & Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities

The jobholder manages the reinsurance treaty portfolio for the markets assigned, which encompasses marketing, planning, underwriting, results monitoring, ensuring compliance with SCOR process / procedures / guidelines for (i) risks analysis, (ii) exposure assessment, (iii) pricing and (iv) underwriting delegated authorities.

The jobholder is also responsible of the P&C Treaty portfolio of assigned clients and manage the overall relationship for the best outcome for SCOR. The jobholder also supports the underwriting activity for other territories within the RoA and Japan regions to execute the defined team objectives and strategy.

P&C Treaty Underwriting : Achieve the profitability target of assigned portfolio, in adherence to SCOR’s UW Plan, UW guidelines and best practices while respecting internal processes (incl. UW, pricing, CAT Modelling) and risk appetite, to actively steer the assigned portfolio according to primary insurance and reinsurance market environment.

  • P&C treaty underwriting as per guidelines and procedures.
  • Analysis and management of assigned treaty portfolio : incl. cat exposure monitoring, portfolio profile analysis, pricing & modelling (in conjunction with actuaries and with modelers) activity, identify critical issues and discussing with clients / brokers to resolve and monitor the matter.
  • UW Plan’s execution in all its dimensions (including new clients / other line of business / deals, underwriting reviews, SCOR P&C internal projects);
  • Quality control on underwriting and data maintenance including claims and exposure data entered in Omega, Pacman, and other tools as per SCOR P&C procedures.
  • Follow up the handling / reserving of large claims in close coordination with claims department.
  • In close coordination with rest of underwriting team to drive the portfolio to expand business initiatives launched in the markets

Client Relationship Management : Enhance client engagement within allocated market. Establish expert knowledge of the marketplace and client activities. This will enable the jobholder to identify client needs whether the client realises or not, then convert them into SCOR Business opportunities.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide best of SCOR offerings to the markets and client to contribute in achieving the planned targets.

  • Coordinates, participates, and leads various underwriting / marketing activities, which include matters related to Specialty lines, SBS and Cedant fac departments.
  • Responsible to drive profits from assigned clients for all line of business, via maintaining a high level of technical and commercial relationships with various stakeholders (incl. brokers), to identify prospects (needs and opportunities) and generate new offers through pro-active marketing.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions for the assumed business both with cedants and brokers respecting relevant guidelines and guidance provided by SCOR, also with a mindset of a solution provider.
  • To increase and enhance the weight of lead / private / innovative deals with assigned clients.
  • To improve and update information on client’s files in Salesforce.
  • Internal Control and Compliance : Adherence of internal control and compliance as per established rules, including but not limited to

  • Checking of reinsurance slip, treaty wording and endorsements;
  • Review of the EGPI and Loss Ratio as per internal control rules;
  • KYC, Sanctions and Embargo checks as per legal requirements before the onboarding of new clients and / or inception of treaties underwritten;
  • Experience :

  • P&C underwriting (experienced and knowledgeable in property treaty reinsurance underwriting and / or property facultative reinsurance and / or direct property underwriting for commercial / industrial risks)
  • Strong technical understanding and expertise in direct insurance to discuss underwriting issues, risk assessment, risk engineering & control and pricing with underwriters of insurance companies
  • Personal Competences :

  • Good analytical and synthesis skills
  • Pro-active person with excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to navigate and succeed in a complex matrix organization internally and to build strong client relationships externally
