What is this position about?
RISK APAC is the regional RISK organization in Asia Pacific encompassing the 13 Territories where BNP Paribas is present. RISK APAC missions are to :
- Ensure that the region operates within the approved risk profile and satisfies local regulations
- Ensure the establishment and effective execution of risk controls
- Be the contact point for the Bank's management and for local regulators for risk matters
Within RISK CIB, the general mission of RISK MFI is to provide Senior Management of the Group, of the RISK Function, of the Business lines (Global Markets and Securities Services) and of the Coverage with full transparency and dynamic analysis and recommendations with respect to the market, liquidity, counterparty, credit, and valuation risks, in order to assist them in their risk decision making.
RISK MFI acts as a second level of control and is responsible for :
Market, counterparty, and liquidity risks of Global Markets & Securities Services Business LinesCredit risk on all Financial Institutions including Market Infrastructures and CIB Intragroup entitiesTransactions originated by ECMThe RISK MFI Credit and Counterparty Risk (CCR) APAC team is responsible for credit risk on all Financial Institutions in APAC including Market Infrastructures and CIB Intragroup entities.
Within RISK MFI CCR APAC the Credit Team has the responsibility to manage the credit decision process and policies, the monitoring the CCR profile in relation to institutional clients (excluding Hedge Funds covered by the RISK MFI CCR Hedge Fund team), CIB Intragroup entities and Market Infrastructures. The main mission is to align with Group target risk profile in one RISK voice, recommending to senior and general management the target risk profile of Institutional and Securities Services activities. RISK MFI CCR Credit Team is composed of SCOs and COs, who are competent authorities for CCR approval for institutional clients alongside with FIC / business lines delegation holders.
Within the RISK MFI CCR APAC Credit Team the SCO based in Singapore is responsible for the coverage of financial institutions located in South East Asia, South Asia, Australasia, Japan and South Korea (APAC region excluding Greater China).
The SCO APAC excl Greater China is assisted by and is the manager of 3 Credit Officers :
the CO covering Japan and Australia financial institutions, based in Tokyo,the CO covering the other countries, based in Singapore,the CO covering Regulated Funds for the entire APAC region, based in Hong Kong.The SCO APAC excl Greater China is reporting to the Head of RISK MFI CCR APAC based in Hong Kong.

In this role, you will
To know the definition of the consolidated and consistent view of the Bank's credit exposures to institutional clients and market infrastructuresTo support the coverage and business lines in the implementation of their business strategies and initiatives while checking and challenging the impacts on the risk profileTo anticipate the development of credit risks by identifying potential threats to existing portfolio, assessing the impacts of adverse scenarios and supporting stress testing exercisesTo closely monitor the credit quality of the portfolio including watchlist and doubtful files in coordination with ICAT / FIC RM / GMParticipate in or request due diligenceAs SCO delegation holder, ask for specific portfolio reviews and provide immediate support and guidance for complex requestsProvide RISK MFI comments or recommendations for TAC / NACsTo contribute to RDPC, FMRC, CPC, CCIRC etc on institutional clients and Securities Services perimeterAs SCO Delegation Holder, co-chairs Credit Committees together with the Coverage or Business Lines representatives as per delegation letter. Responsible for CC minutes content and sign off.Act as back-up to the Head of RISK MFI CCR APAC based in Hong Kong (who is also the SCO for the scope of Greater China) for the exercise of credit delegations at RISK MFI level for the APAC region (including Hedge Funds)Contributes to the collective credit expertise of RISK MFI and more broadly RISK, including operational risk management oversight and control over the relevant activities and associated risk monitoring conducted from RISK APAC / worldwide.Work with the RISK MFI Credit officers to support the quality of credit recommendations from ICAT with respect to Ratings and GRR, credit limits, legal contractual credit terms, and transaction approvalsGuarantee a consistent approach across RISK MFI APAC by contributing to the definition of credit and rating policies, and backtesting exercisesGuarantee the operational implementation of Group policies within the RISK MFI perimeterContribute to the fluidity of the credit process while preserving the independence of RISK vis-a-vis ICAT / FIC RM / GMTake ownership in the participation of IG / regulatory audits and assignments involving credit risk management across the APAC region, as well as the implementation of remediation actions and closure of any finding and recommendation from the inspectors.Collaborate with RISK GM / ORM / Corporate / GSA teams to integrate risk assessments in the broader sense of holistic risk management within RISK APAC.Governance Responsibilities
To contribute to the promotion of a strong risk culture and risk governance in CIB FIC / GMEnsure adherence to the standards of proper conduct in relation to the type of activities undertakenEnsure awareness on the risk implications of the type of activities undertaken that may give rise to higher risks including reputational risksEnsure independence from the businesses to ensure proper checks and balances during decision-making processesEnsure key issues and deals are escalated to line managersPermanent Control Aspects
