Job Description :
As a Sous Chef at our Thai restaurant, you will assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation and presentation of authentic Thai dishes with consistency and quality. You will supervise the kitchen team, maintain hygiene standards, and contribute to menu development.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of Thai dishes such as curries, stir-fries, salads, soups, and grilled items
- Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and food prep planning
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff and ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Ensure food presentation meets quality standards and portion control
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
- Handle kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
- Help create and refine recipes for seasonal or promotional Thai dishes
- Collaborate with service staff to ensure smooth kitchen-to-service flow
Job Requirements :
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Cook in a Thai or Asian kitchenStrong knowledge of traditional Thai ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavorsAble to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure during peak hoursGood leadership and communication skillsBasic understanding of kitchen cost control and food waste managementAbility to manage kitchen schedules and delegate tasks effectivelyFood Hygiene Certificate (WSQ Basic Food Hygiene or equivalent preferred)Physically fit and able to stand for long periodsWilling to work weekends, and public holidays
