Research Scientist, Intelligent Architecture

About the team

The mission of Compute Platform - Intelligent Architecture team is to empower computing platforms with the state-of-the-art AI techniques, such as large language models (LLMs), reinforcement learning (RL) and more. The areas we focus on are improving engineering efficiency, usability and performance of Data Management & Integration, Data Mining and Data Processing by applying the emerging AI techniques to the large-scale computing platforms running in production at Tiktok. Responsibilities - Participate in cutting edge research and innovations in the following areas : Data Management & Integration, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Language Models, High Performance Data Processing systems and New Hardwares. - Propose solutions and develop solid systems to solve and optimize real world problem occurs in the large-scale computing system handling billions of requests per day in production.

Minimum Qualifications - PhD (or 3+ years research background) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics or related disciplines. - Have outstanding publications and service records on top database, system and AI conferences. - Strong programming experience in one or more of the following languages : C, C++, Python, Java, Rust. - Strong knowledge in at least one of the following areas : distributed system, database system, machine learning, deep learning, generative models. - Have experience of working with people of diverse backgrounds effectively. Preferred Qualifications - Working experience in research teams / labs. - Strong publication record and winner in international academic competitions. - Ability to propose and execute a research agenda independently. - Contributor of practical open-source projects.
