Chief Underwriting Officer
The Chief Underwriting Office (CUO) will be tasked with developing and executing the broad strategy of Allianz’ Mid-Corp business in Asia, comprising midmarket / commercial risks across Property, Engineering, Liability, Financial lines and Marine business. The selected individual will have responsibility for taking charge of the management and further commercial growth of the portfolio, with overarching accountability for its success while maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients alike. The CUO will assume leadership of a team of Underwriters based in Singapore and will have oversight of existing Midcorp business in specific countries in the region. The selected individual will be responsible for further embedding the segment, active business origination within these parameters. He / she will have a profitability orientated growth mindset and is a strong internal collaborator across functions and business units as well as an energetic, driven and entrepreneurial developer, externally. The selected individual ideally has a technical foundation, derived from either underwriting or technical product line broking.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and develop the Midcorp strategy and portfolio with a focus on growth, profitability, talent management and development and implementation of technical excellence standards.
- Build, develop and manage a team of highly talented market facing underwriters that will actively lead local and regional business origination for Mid-Corp and provide expert underwriting support to Allianz Insurance Singapore other distribution channels and to Allianz regional entities as required.
- Build and develop an active sales pipeline, with a focus on large and international brokers and drive profitable growth in the Midcorp segment
- Steer and manage specific regional Midcorp portfolio with the objective to maintain growth and drive profitability.

Ideally 10-15 years’ Technical Underwriting experience across the Property, Construction, Engineering, Liability, Marine and Financial Lines LOBDemonstrable track record of leadership, preferably within the Asia regionHave built a strong level of market relationships in Singapore and in the regionStrong footprint in the Southeast Asia market with excellent commercial and sales acumenEntrepreneurial and resilient mindset able to work in a fast-paced, flexible work environmentPreferably has strong experience in Singapore, with some exposure to international marketsUnderstanding of the corporate / mid-market segment is a strong added advantage and the individual ideally has a portfolio view across various lines of businessAbility to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally.
