Research Fellow, Neuroscience (Neurological Diseases) [LKCMedicine]

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), established in September 2010 as a partnership between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is inviting applications for a Research Fellow position in the Laboratory of Foo Jia Nee.

Our research focuses on using genetics and genomics technologies to understand neurological diseases, especially Parkinson’s Disease, and involves functional follow-up of genetics findings in human pluripotent stem-cell models. For more information, visit this link .

We seek a candidate with a strong background in human disease genetics and / or neuroscience, interested in academia or industry. Responsibilities include :

  • Leading projects involving in vitro modeling of neurological diseases using human pluripotent stem cells.
  • Performing experiments such as cell culture, molecular cloning, gene editing, immunostaining, and confocal microscopy.
  • Overseeing bioinformatics analyses of genomics and transcriptomics data.
  • Collaborating with research assistants, students, and external partners.
  • Staying updated with current research in genetics and neuroscience.
  • Participating in manuscript and grant writing.

The laboratory is located at the Clinical Sciences Building, Novena campus.

Qualifications include :

  • A PhD in Biomedical Sciences, preferably related to genetics, stem cell biology, or neuroscience.
  • Research experience in molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, genomics, or bioinformatics.
  • Experience with CRISPR / Cas9, molecular cloning, and stem cell research is advantageous.
  • Coding knowledge (Perl, C / C++, Java, Python, R) is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, organized, with excellent communication skills.
  • First-authored publications in reputable journals are preferred.
