Roles & Responsibilities

We are representing our client in the Shipping industry to look for a Head of Ship Building.

Responsibilities :

Project Planning & Execution

  • Oversee all phases of new vessel construction projects, from initial concept and design to final delivery and sea trials.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
  • Collaborate with naval architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and resolve potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Technical Expertise

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations (e.g., IMO, Class Societies), and customer specifications.
  • Stay abreast of the latest shipbuilding technologies, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the selection and procurement of materials, equipment, and components.
  • Ensure quality control throughout the entire shipbuilding process.
  • Client Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Communicate effectively with clients on project progress, challenges, and any necessary changes.
  • Manage client expectations and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Implement and maintain a strong safety culture within the shipbuilding department.
  • Business Development :
  • Contribute to the development of new business opportunities and proposals.
  • Participate in industry events and conferences to network and build relationships.
  • Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Class one MEO Certificate (Marine Engineer Officer).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in shipbuilding, with at least 8 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in shipbuilding standards and sequences, including database management for ship inspections during construction, block division, building sequence, and pre-outfitting procedures.
  • Shipbuilding experience of containerships in China and Korea.
  • Able to manage multiple projects across different sites or locations.
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of complex shipbuilding projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
