Role Summary

As Director of Automation & Industrial AI (AIA), the incumbent is responsible for leading the development and implementation of smart automation, robotics and industrial AI solutions across our Commercial Aerospace (CA) OEM and MRO operations. This role oversees a team of engineers to deliver innovative, sustainable, cutting-edge & technology-driven initiatives that enhance productivity, safety, and quality across manufacturing, maintenance, inspection and repair processes. The focus is on deploying advanced and scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing workflows, systems, and regulatory requirements in the aerospace environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive automation and industrial AI (AIA) roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of AIA projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-efficiency.
  • Guide the team in engineering design, system integration, prototyping, testing, and commissioning of AIA solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to align project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Ensure smooth transition of deployed systems into operations with robust support, training, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team to build strong execution and problem-solving capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Industrial AI or a related field. Candidate with experience in large-scale projects within Aerospace OEM & MRO environments would be prefered.
  • Min 10 years in applied engineering or automation, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams and projects.
  • Strong background in automation systems, control systems (including PLCs), and industrial robotics.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX).
  • Experienced in system integration, material / component specification, and project execution.
  • Proven ability to deliver engineering solutions from concept to deployment in operational environments.
  • Effective stakeholder management, vendor coordination, and team leadership.
