Role Purpose
Managing Global Feeder desk and internal and external customers related to Feeders. Negotiating pre and post carriage feeder rates globally. Actively engaging feeder operators and agents to ensure that feeders used by Swire Shipping are providing competitive rates and reliable service standards that meet our requirements. Reviewing the Strategies and SOP's in place to ensure compliance by internal and external parties. Monitor the Agency performance on global feeders' usage and ensure guidelines are comply with.
Role Accountabilities
Global Feeder Management
- Proactively engaging with Commercial and marketing team to update on Feeder market trend.
- Reviewing, creating and / or updating Feeder Strategies Globally for improved service to customers.
- Overseeing / updating / creating SOP's related to Feeders for internal / external customers.
- Monitor routing and proposing alternatives where feasible.
- Actively seeking and proposing cost savings solutions
- Regular review of Feeder cost vs. market to ensure Swire is competitive.
- Review of laden flows and propose competitive solutions where possible including fixed slot / routing change / MV calling direct, etc.
- Maintain the strategic working relationship directly with feeder operators globally to secure
competitive rates and ensure we safeguard our Trades' feeder requirements in terms of pricing and space procurement.
Establish feeder oversight over globally. Ascertain the competitive feeder landscape and explore options with agencies and formulate feeder engagement plan that will help drive cost savings.Review the feeder operators' service coverage and / or slot and consortia arrangements to ascertain their strengths and weaknesses and determine where they can best serve Swire interest.Establish competitiveness of rates per port pair and implement feeder usage policy globally to agents to derive cost savings.Coordinate with Logistics Dept on their empty port pair needs to help reduce empty repositioning cost.Analyze global feeder spend and data on monthly basis and provide monthly feeder report.Understand Swire trade lanes and transshipment options and determine where / how we could further realize cost savings from optimal transshipment arrangements.Explore and maximize synergies with existing partners beneficial to Swire.Explore partnership opportunities between Swire and small / medium / large operators.Risk control by constantly monitoring market trend and cost.Monitor the container flows and forecast to proactively negotiate costing to ensure feeder rates / contract are valid for the next 30-90 days.Monitor feeder cost update by GSS team and provide monthly updated feeder matrix forinternal stakeholders through the collation of updated rates from feeders and agents.
Consolidate average rates / forecasted market trend for sectors that Swire have regular flow.Analyze and review rates with feeder operators accordingly.Guide and monitor GSS team in maintaining feeder cost in new system.Obtain and review contracts from feeder operators with Swire interest.Liaise with feeder operators to get the updated schedules and coordinate with internal team to input in Swire system.Cost and Vendor Payment (CVP) Management
Overseeing CVP for Feeder activities against booking and Work orders to ensure correct cost calculation.Approve or reject the payment of the activities performed by Vendors (Feeder) if it is not ordered by Logistics.Discuss discrepancies with Vendors and conclude the activity quantity, and payment value to ensure we do not pay any unjustified cost.Support the implementation of CVP Modules across the teams.Understand the Process, test the functionality, and highlight errors to the respective functional head and Business process owner.Conduct the training with local agents & 3rd party agents.Join the discussions with Technology, Finance, and Solverminds to define the approach to integrate the Swire legacy system with CVP modules.Track the implementation status and process compliance.Work with the Finance team to analyze the issues raised during invoice registration and identify improvement opportunities in the upstream Activity registration process.Key Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications
Degree with minimum 5 years of experience in the liner shipping industryTechnical Skills
Preferably with feeder knowledgeAbility to quickly grasp applicable business processes, ascertain gaps and institute changesResults driven with keen negotiation skills.Strong impartiality / integrity in feeder management.Possesses analytical skills and proficient in formulating feeder plan to safeguard our interest.Professional Skills
