The Director – Commodity Trading will be responsible for shaping and executing the company’s trading and operational strategy across multiple commodities, including both physical and derivative markets. This is a high-impact leadership role that combines commercial strategy, operational oversight, and supply chain optimization. The ideal candidate will have deep market knowledge, a strong commercial instinct, and the ability to lead teams, manage risk, and drive profitable performance while establishing scalable trading infrastructure and supply chain networks in key markets.

Strategic Leadership

Trading & Portfolio Management
Oversee day-to-day physical and derivative trading operations across commodities.Manage trading books, risk exposures, and real-time P&L.Utilize market intelligence, pricing models, and macroeconomic trends to inform trading decisions.Operations & Supply Chain Development
Establish and manage end-to-end supply chain capabilities, from sourcing to delivery.Build operational infrastructure to support scalable and efficient commodity flow.Drive logistics planning, warehousing, and distribution strategy to support trading activities.Work cross-functionally to align operations with commercial and trading objectives.Risk Management & Compliance
Implement and oversee risk control frameworks to manage exposure across credit, market, and operational risks.Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure full regulatory adherence (e.g., ISDA, MiFID II).Approve and monitor trader risk limits and ensure disciplined trading behavior.Commercial Development
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including producers, processors, counterparties, and logistics partners.Identify and execute structured deals, long-term contracts, and partnership opportunities.Lead negotiations and support cross-border transactions and joint ventures.Financial Accountability
Define P&L targets and ensure delivery of trading and operational performance.Optimize trading margins while reducing transaction and supply chain costs.Collaborate with finance for accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field; MBA preferred.10–15 years of experience in commodity trading, operations, or commercial leadership, with at least 5 years at the senior executive level.Strong track record in physical and / or derivatives trading with exposure to global markets.Experience building and managing supply chain infrastructure and operational processes.Solid understanding of financial instruments, trading platforms, and regulatory frameworks.Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in fast-paced, multicultural environments.Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.High integrity and a proactive approach to risk and governance.Benefits
