Roles & Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and protecting data assets within an established data governance framework. Your primary focus will be to operationalize data governance practices, ensuring high standards of data quality, proper usage, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with data stewards across multiple business domains to develop and enforce data quality rules, support governance workflows, and maintain data lineage integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply data stewardship principles in line with the organization’s data governance policies.
- Collaborate with business units and data stewards to establish data classification, validation procedures, and data quality controls, addressing issues in areas such as risk, finance, AML / KYC, and customer data.
- Maintain documentation on data governance processes and reporting frameworks.
- Support efforts to ensure data traceability and integrity through data lineage initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation and adoption of data governance technologies, including tools like Collibra.
- Ensure all data governance activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, such as BCBS 239.
- Advocate for data governance best practices and promote a culture of data quality and stewardship.
- Provide training and ongoing support to data stewards and stakeholders on governance policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, regulatory reporting, data warehousing, ETL, or data architecture.Professional certifications in data governance (e.g., CDMP, Collibra, DGSP, CIMP) or risk management (e.g., GARP, PRIMIA) are advantageous.Demonstrated experience in data stewardship and governance within the financial services industry.Proven ability to design and implement data quality rules and resolve data issues, with strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.Solid understanding of banking regulatory frameworks, including regulatory reporting and BCBS 239.Practical experience with data governance platforms, especially Collibra, and familiarity with other tools such as Alation, Informatica, or automation tools like Alteryx.Excellent skills in documentation, process management, and collaboration, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.Experience working in banks or consulting firms advising financial institutions on data governance frameworks and tool implementation is a plus.Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.Tell employers what skills you have
