Position objective and summary
The Senior Maintenance Technician is a highly skilled, hands-on professional responsible for the day-to-day maintenance work planning, execution for both facility infrastructure and plant equipment. This role requires a proactive individual with strong troubleshooting abilities, capable of working independently and leading a team of technicians when necessary. The Senior Maintenance Technician will ensure optimal functionality, safety, and reliability of all assets, minimizing downtime and contributing to operational efficiency.
Main tasks / activities / responsibilities
- Perform complex preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a wide range of facility systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety) and plant equipment (e.g., rotating machinery, static equipment, production lines, pumps, motors, valves, control systems).
- Execute emergency repairs swiftly and effectively to minimize operational disruptions.
- Conduct regular inspections and condition monitoring of equipment and systems.
- Develop and execute daily and weekly maintenance schedules, prioritizing tasks to ensure critical operations are not impacted.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, including identifying necessary materials, spares, tools, and methods.
- Liaise with production teams, engineers, and external contractors to schedule and execute maintenance work, ensuring proper lockout / tagout (LOTO) procedures and work permits are in place.
- Propose and implement innovative solutions for improving operational efficiency and extending equipment life.
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in strict compliance with company safety regulations, industry standards, and local codes (e.g., LOTO, confined space, work at height).
- Conduct safety inspections and checks of equipment and facility systems.
- Participate in emergency response teams (ERT) as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior maintenance technicians.
- Oversee and direct the work of other maintenance technicians and contractors on specific tasks or projects.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and contractors.
Job requirements
Diploma or ITE in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing, industrial, or facilities management environment, with a strong focus on both plant equipment and facility infrastructure.Proven experience in planning and executing daily maintenance jobs independently.In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and practices (e.g., LOTO, confined space, work at height).Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and teamwork skills.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.Willingness to be on call for emergencies outside of regular working hours.Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Work at Height, Confined Space Entry Supervisor) are a strong advantage.Experience with specific plant equipment types relevant to the industry (e.g., compressors, boilers, chillers, automated systems).Experience with PLC.Welding and fabrication skills.
