Company Description

NutriLab is a healthtech startup building the first explainable AI food scanner — instead of just counting calories, we break meals down ingredient by ingredient using computer vision and LLMs.

We’re backed by early seed funding and won Most Impactful & Overall Best at the Young Trailblazers 2024 startup competition. Our first public beta is approaching — and we’re ready to scale what we've built.

The core pipelines are already up and running :

AI-generated meal summaries and a nutrition chatbot

We're now working on next-gen features — smarter food classification, volume inference from images, and deeper explainability layers.

Role Description

This is a real product development role , not a toy internship.

You’ll help ship actual features into production. Depending on your background, you might :

Refine and evaluate our LLM-based nutrition engine

Build tools that make the AI’s reasoning transparent to users

Develop MLops for rollback capability, evaluation, and fine-tuning during deployment

You'll work independently on scoped tasks, but with weekly async check-ins , mentorship, and feedback. Think of this as a startup-style team — lean, fast, and highly collaborative.

You don’t need a degree — just proof that you know how to build. We value portfolio projects , GitHub repos, and past experience more than your resume.

Must-Have :

Experience with image-based ML (e.g., OpenCV, torchvision, segmentation)

At least one of the following : (a) Image segmentation or object detection (b) Monocular depth estimation (c) Prompt engineering or LLM evaluation (d) Data wrangling and model performance evaluation

Ability to work independently, but open to feedback and team alignment

Nice-to-Have :

Docker, APIs, or microservices experience

Exposure to vector search (e.g., Qdrant)

Interest in healthtech, nutrition, or ethical / explainable AI

This is an unpaid role, but it’s designed to give you :
