Scientist / Senior Scientist, TCOMS

JOB DESCRIPTION

Lead and drive the development of ocean and coastal modelling capabilities, including :

• Development of high-resolution coastal models for the regional and local waters using DELFT3D-FM / MIKE; and / or
• Development of high-resolution ocean circulation models for the regional waters using NEMO;
• Development of relevant tools, techniques, and methodologies, such as data assimilation, data-driven models and Bayesian networks.
• Working as senior member of research teams carrying out projects related to the development of models for forecasting and prediction of the metocean environment.
• Lead and undertake management of project tasks and produce the deliverables within the agreed parameters in an appropriate format, to ensure that relevant project tasks are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
• Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track project progress and performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
• Develop leadership skills, and to take responsibility to review other colleagues? work as requested.
• Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with other staff members.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentations.
• Report and escalate to management as needed.
• Contribute to the proposals for new grants and projects by accurately estimating time requirements and developing scopes of work.
• Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
• Actively seeking to ensure satisfaction of collaborators and stakeholders and to generate new opportunities for TCOMS.
• Attend training as required to maintain proficiency.
• Any other duties as assigned.
