Roles & Responsibilities
Position Summary :
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician works under the charge of the Maintenance Manager to implement the site maintenance system. The associate is responsible in managing contractor resources, supporting Operations in their production and participating in small capital projects and other assignments.
Functional Responsibilities :
- Perform mechanical PM & CM of site Utilities, Facilities & Manufacturing equipment in a timely and effective manner to ensure its safe & reliability operations. This includes proper cleaning, lubrication and prevent mishandling.
- Implement condition monitoring and predictive maintenance of critical equipment and take corrective actions to avoid breakdown. Monitor plant and equipment to ensure optimal operation and reduction of planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Maintain and support operations of systems such as generation and distribution of steam boiler, water treatment, HVAC, air-compressor, chemical & gas system.
- Support site FSM in the maintenance of fire alarm and fire protection system.
- Perform equipment or system testing / commissioning / Inspections team after maintenance / project completion before handing over to Operations.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications in making installations or performing major repair work.
- Coordinate and liaise with contractors in supervision of all mechanical works on site, ensuring that they execute maintenance tasks / activities effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure that contractors carry out tasks / activities that adhered to site safety, health, and environment regulations. This includes them completing SIC training and Risk Assessment before embarking on the tasks / activities.
- Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) workflow to receive, update and close assigned Work Orders and checklists. Timely close all work orders in CMMS.
- Maintain accurate and up to date maintenance records and documentation.
- Maintain work progress status and report to Supervisors on daily or ad hoc basis
- Assist in developing new equipment or plant expansion projects.
- Assist in spare parts and consumables management.
- Based on seniority / job level, and as assigned by site management, the associate may be tasked with supervisory, coaching and other career-development responsibilities. This may involve training new or less experienced team members, team supervision, MPS implementation, small capital projects, site optimization and CI projects.
Add-on Responsibilities / As Assigned :
1. Managing PR Requests : Take charge of PR requests for the majority of critical spare parts, ensuring timely procurement and availability.
Leading Maintenance System Setup : Lead the setup and implementation of the maintenance system, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability.Vendor Communication and Coordination : Effectively manage communication and coordination between multiple vendors, ensuring seamless project execution and vendor relations.Establishing Inventory System : Establish and optimize the inventory system for the Tembusu Plant, contributing to better resource management and cost savings.Reviewing SOPs and Risk Assessments : Review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), method statements, and conducts risk assessments for commissioning activities, ensuring safety and compliance.Project and Maintenance Task Allocation : Proactively step up to assign and allocate maintenance and project tasks to the in-house contractor team, demonstrating leadership and initiative.Implement cGMP in daily work activities.Safe handling of equipment and materials. Understand the hazards, adhere strictly to risk control measures and utilization of PPE.Perform basic care, housekeeping and maintenance of equipment and work area. Conduct routine 5S at maintenance workshop, store, substations, and work area at site.Work shift and overtime to cover vacations, including weekends if needed.Be cross-trained in other specialist positions for business continuity and flexibility as required by site management.Complete all training as assigned by site management and Milliken.Be part of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) if required.Participate in continuous improvement efforts. Suggest and execute ideas for continuous improvement in maintenance procedures and processes to improve or optimize maintenance costs, work processes and safety standards.Participate and contribute to maintenance documentation review such as Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Job safety Analysis (JSA) and What-If AnalysisPerform / support designated roles in the Permit to Work (PTW), which may include permit application or others as appropriately assigned by site management. Support Operations to ensure that non-production related activities, such as maintenance and project tie-ins, do not contradict production requirements or pose safety concerns during on-going production.Execute HSE operational assignments as set by site management. Be involved, in a participative or leading role, in site HSE efforts, as designated by site management. This may include (not limited to) involvement in BBS, Permit to Work (PTW), LOTOTO, safety committee, incident investigations, emergency responses, safety inspections, internal / local audits, risk assessments, hazard studies and others as deemed necessary by site management for continual improvement of site HSE performance.Accountabilities :
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and test mechanical systems on site to keep production and facility equipment operational.Collaborate with Operations, SMA and HSE teams to troubleshoot and implement solutions to daily issues.Actively participate on assigned project teams. Identify project risks and opportunities to improve.Manage the HSE requirements of contractors under your charge.Must respond to after hour’s phone calls and fix failed equipment.Work safely and appropriately handle hazardous chemicals and other hazards around plant.Technical Skills / Experience / Background / Traits :
Minimum 4 years of rotating and static mechanical experiences with a petrochemical / chemical / pharmaceutical / food manufacturing facility in Singapore.Hands-on, field experience in maintenance is essential.Basic mechanical skills related to the use of hand and power toolsBasic knowledge of process control, refrigeration, boilers, steam, pumps, heat exchangers, LOTO, and industrial safety practices.Previous electrical work experience a plus.Keyboarding proficiency and general computer knowledge / experience is required. Experience with Microsoft software applications is helpful. CMMS software experience a plus.Continuous improvement focuses with demonstrated ability to energize and empower others.Self-directed personality capable of working under minimal supervisionStrong organizational and presentation skills.Able to speak, read and write in English. Diploma / NITEC / Higher NITEC in Mechanical or equivalent.Class 1 / Class 2 Boiler Attendant Certificate of Competency is an advantage.Having a forklift driving license is an advantage.Competency in HAZMAT, firefighting and Incident Management is an advantage.Tell employers what skills you have
