Roles & Responsibilities

About the role

McConnell Dowell is seeking to hire an experienced Engineering Manager with design engineering and technical experience in coastal protection and marine structures to support our growing marine works projects across SEA.

Key responsibilities of the role include;

Project Delivery

  • Support project teams with technical and engineering input.
  • Help resolve engineering, design, and technical issues.
  • Review designs and methods and follow through on any recommendations made.
  • Produce reports on engineering and technical issues, along with associated recommendations.
  • Adhere to relevant Group technical standards.
  • Closely monitor the design and engineering phases of projects.
  • Assist with technical assurance audits when needed.

Strategy & Governance

  • Collaborate to develop effective project plans and solutions.
  • Engage in team efforts to devise sound technical resolutions.
  • Adhere to company protocols and contribute to pivotal decision-making processes.
  • Moreover, deliberate on prospective innovations for our initiatives.

    • Customer Relationships

  • Support the Line Manager or Group Technical Director in building and maintaining senior-level customer relationships, relationships with key stakeholders, and strategic partnerships with consultants and technology partners.
  • Additionally, contribute to early client engagement and wider industry / partner engagement as part of our "engineering-led" agenda.

    • Brand Awareness

  • Participate in industry forums and groups to enhance McConnell Dowell's reputation, create technical literature for brand growth, and present technical papers at conferences.

    • Winning Work

  • Manage assigned specialized area tenders.
  • Contribute to win strategies for tenders.
  • Evaluate and recommend partners. Develop cost-effective construction methodologies.
  • Participate in tender reviews and technical due diligence.
  • Endorse technical and operational aspects of tenders.
  • Provide engineering summary reports for approvals.
  • Make recommendations for project teams.

    • About You

    To be considered for this role, you will have

  • A Bachelor degree in (Marine) Structural and / or Coastal Engineering and experience in marine structural engineering, coastal engineering, dredging, and materials handling.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry with a background in coastal engineering and marine structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated strong team ethic, work ethic, collaborative approach, and positive relationship-building skills.
  • Able to analyze technical and financial reports and take decisive action.
  • Capable of developing project execution plans and programs.
