Singapore's Operations consists of 3 main areas (Physical Commodities Operations / Trade Support / Documentation Credit) with its own roles and responsibilities. Every personnel are empowered with technical knowledge and skills to perform their role, with the objective of developing them into subject matter expert in their area of expertise.
The Physical Commodities Operations (Precious / Base / Energy) manages all aspect of physical delivery and receipt of commodity products for the Bank. This involves the movement, storage, cash & safe settlements and reconciliation processes around these products. The function facilitates all business generated by the Front Office dealing in Commodities Physical transactions and other complex trades and facilities. It establishes and upholds essential control function around the monitoring and capturing of all inventory and movements physical commodities businesses by liaising with Vaults / Warehouses / Clients to ensure prompt, accurate and timeliness of physical metals delivery to the clients during the Asia time zone.
Job Purpose :
Key role is to assist Senior Manager, Operations to manage Physical Commodities Operations (Precious / Base / Energy), providing and ensuring key controls are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities :
Performance
Assist Senior Manager, Commodities Operations in day to day BAU
Engage Internal Stakeholders within Singapore and cross jurisdictions (SG / LDN / SRC) to assist on problem resolutions
Uphold high standards of diligence and care in all operational tasks
Ensure no audit point (Internal / External) in area of responsibilities
Achieve zero operational loss in area of responsibilities
Ensuring that the service provided to internal and external clients is delivered to an excellent standard
Represent and participate in stakeholders' meetings / conferences in all Physical Commodities related matters
Proactively escalate operational risks or issues to Senior Manager, Operations
Be involved in New Product assessments and discussions related to Physical Commodities
Participate in Projects related to Physical Commodities Operations
Act as role model in living the Bank's values
Leadership and People Management
Lead and supervise the Commodities Operations team under the guidance of the Head of Commodities Operations Asia and the Senior Manager
Foster a culture of continuous learning by identifying and facilitating cross training opportunities
Mentor and motivate junior team members, supporting their professional growth and development
Coordinate cross-border training initiatives with teams in London and SRC
Take ownership of personal development and encourage the same among team members
Process
Conduct annual review of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure relevance and compliance
Identify and implement workflow enhancement to improve efficiency and scalability
Design and document new processes to support for the launch of new products
Align local processes with regional and global standards whenever possible

Identify opportunities to enhance systems' functionalities and operational tools
Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging team members to propose and implement improvement initiatives
Redesign inefficient processes while maintaining robust risk and control framework
Collaborate with global teams to share and adopt best practices across regions
Required Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Values :
Degree in business or another field
2 years or more product and supervisory experience in Commodity Operations.
Preferably good knowledge in similar role
Knowledge, technical skills and expertise :
Experience in supervisory and mentoring
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to support team development
Hands on experience in Physical Commodities Operations (Base / Energy / Precious)
Ability to anticipate challenges and design / document effective strategic solutions
Understanding of trade lifecycle and risk management principles
Resourceful and result oriented with a track record of resolving complex operational issues
Capable of delivering high quality outcomes within deadline.
Good verbal and written communication skill with the ability to interact effectively with both internal stakeholders and external parties.

Diligent and thorough in executing all job-related responsibilities
