Deputy General Manager

  • Position Summary
  • We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Deputy General Manager to oversee our critical functions of Internal Risk Control, Credit Management, and Client & Vendor Relations. This leadership role is pivotal in safeguarding the company's assets, ensuring sustainable growth, and strengthening our market presence in the ASEAN region.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Internal Risk Control & Compliance :

    Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's comprehensive risk management framework, policies, and procedures.

    Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, credit, and market risks associated with commodity trading and supply chain operations.

    Ensure strict compliance with all relevant Singaporean regulatory requirements (MAS, etc.), international trade laws, and internal group policies.

    Lead internal audit activities and coordinate with external auditors and group internal audit teams.

    2. Credit Management

    Oversee the entire credit granting process, including the development of credit evaluation models and scoring systems for clients and counterparties.

    Manage the company's credit portfolio, set credit limits, and monitor exposure to ensure they align with the company's risk appetite.

    Conduct in-depth financial analysis and due diligence on new and existing clients, vendors, and partners.

    Develop strategies for managing arrears and non-performing accounts.

    3. Client & Vendor Management

    Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, suppliers, and strategic partners.

    Act as a senior point of contact for resolving major commercial disputes or operational issues.

    Work closely with the commercial team to understand client needs and ensure our services exceed expectations, thereby enhancing client retention and satisfaction.

    Identify opportunities for business development and strategic collaboration through existing relationships.

    4. Team Leadership & Strategy :

    Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across risk, credit, and client management functions.

    Report directly to the General Manager and provide expert risk and strategic advice to the senior management team.

    Contribute to the overall business strategy and operational planning of the company.

  • Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) or professional certification (e.g., FRM, CFA) is highly preferred.

    Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in risk management, credit analysis, or internal control, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within commodity trading, international trade, or banking industrie.

    Deep understanding of the risks inherent in commodity trading (e.g., price volatility, counterparty risk, logistics risk) and international trade finance (L / C, supply chain finance).

    Proven track record in developing and implementing robust risk management systems and credit policies.

    Strong network and relationship management skills with a proven ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level.

    Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

    Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential to communicate effectively with headquarters, regional teams, and Chinese-speaking clients / vendors.
