The Community Psychology Hub (CPH) is dedicated to improving people's lives through innovative, quality psychological and research services. We work in active collaboration with partners in the social service and public sector to provide care for persons with vulnerabilities alongside their families in the community. Set up by the Ministry of Social and Family Development in 2015, we are a unit sited within SG Enable Ltd, a registered charity and an Institution of a Public Character.
This position is for the role of a psychologist working with adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs in the Adult Disability setting (i.e., Day Activity Centre, Sheltered Workshop or Residential Home). This role aims to provide psychological services to individual clients presenting with behavioural issues and / or mental health concerns, and vis-a-via consultancy and training to the staff and caregivers who support our clients. Specifically, this role is part of a pilot project looking at redefining programmes within the Adult Disability setting to create a continuum of service across the lifespan. You will be working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within the social service agency (SSA).
Responsibilities
1. Conduct Psychological Assessments
- Conduct specific psychological assessments, to facilitate vocational, educational and other placements
- Conduct initial / intake assessment alongside the multi-disciplinary team as part of routine implementation and progress monitoring
- Prepare assessment reports
2. Deliver Intervention
Provide routine intervention, as part of the multi-disciplinary / transdisciplinary team to support individuals with common behavioural concernsParticipate in routine care-planning, progress monitoring, and meetings as part of the multi-disciplinary teamWorking with SSA staff, allied health professionals and caregivers to better support needs through professional consultation and case discussions in adapting existing interventions for application in local context based on research and trends3. Build stakeholder relationships or capacity
Co-implement programmes and interventions catered to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs, inclusive of Positive Behaviour Support and other systemic supportsSupport training to help equip staff and caregivers in relevant areas for supporting clients in SSA and community settingsProvide evidence-based input for program / policy improvements4. Uplift professional practice in psychology
Provide peer consultation to other allied health professionalsAssist in the delivery of training (clinical seminars, clinical workshops) for psychologists and / or other professionals in the social service sectorParticipate, facilitate and present in CPH professional development platforms for knowledge-sharing and enhancement of professional skillsAssist in development of quality improvement projects to improve client care and services, to move beyond pure custodial care model5. 1. Educational qualifications
A recognised masters' degree in Applied Psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Educational Psychology) from an accredited university. The programme must include a supervised practicum and supervised training in psychological assessmentsBe eligible for registration with the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) (Full Membership) and Singapore register of Psychologists (SRP)2. Experience
Relevant experience working with either children or adults with developmental disabilities and / or providing psychological services in similar settings (i.e., SPED, social services sector) will be an advantageExperience in lesson-planning and curriculum development, administering psychoeducational assessment tools and providing intervention based on Positive Behaviour Support is preferable.3.
