Roles & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Process Technician's primary responsiblity is to ensure the smooth operation of his / her assigned Process Unit, be it in either the Field or DCS Panel Operation.
Job Description
DCS Operation
- Perform starts up and shuts down according to Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions or Checklists.
- Monitor and control process variables via DCS (towers, reactors, driers, compressors, etc) to maintain quality & plant in steady & efficient condition.
- Respond to process alarms, process upsets or abnormal process conditions according to established practices and procedures in order to begin or cease production as advised by Supervisor or Engineers.
- Troubleshoots equipment and / or process problems in order to identify needed corrections or improvements.
- Initiate and perform Safety bypass with approval from Supervisor.
Field Operation
Performs equipment line-ups and operate towers, reactors, driers, compressors, pumps, etc according to established practices and procedures.Responds to upsets or abnormal process conditions according to instructions from Supervisor or Panelman.Troubleshoots equipment and / or process problems in order to identify needed corrections or improvements.Collect process samples from assigned sampling points in a safe manner.Equipment Inspection Tours according to checklist.Requirements
NITEC in Chemical Process Technology / Diploma in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.Min. 1-2 years Operational experience with demonstrable exposure to Process Plant Operations and site-based activity or equivalent.Experience in Safety Awareness programs or involvement in Safety Committees will be an added advantage.Tell employers what skills you have
