Private Chinese Tutor / Governess - Islandwide, SG

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary :

We are seeking a qualified and experienced governess to provide personalized education and care for our children in a private household setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, a nurturing personality, and the ability to structure and deliver lessons tailored to each child’s needs, while also guiding their physical, social and emotional development. This role is a long-term position. We expect the governess to support our children until they reach university.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design and implement a daily / weekly schedule / routine tailored to the child’s age and abilities, aimed at developing child’s reading / writing of Chinese language and to nurture child’s intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development. Examples of activities include reading, writing, signing, sensory play, arts & crafts, guided free play.
• Source materials needed for planned activities and prepare / set up activities before child arrives.
• Instruct children in Chinese language.
• Instill the love of learning in children.
• Monitor child’s academic, intellectual, physical, and socio-emotional progress and provide regular (weekly) feedback to parents.
• Foster good manners, discipline, and social etiquette in line with the family's values.
• Coordinate with tutors, extracurricular instructors, and schools as needed. Assist in making payments to tutors and extracurricular instructors
• Organize educational activities, cultural outings, and age-appropriate enrichment programs.
• Assist in sending child to extracurricular activities, school, and any other place required in daily schedule.
• Assist with homework and school projects once the children attend formal schooling.
• Encourage healthy routines, including reading, exercise, and structured free time.
• Supervise helpers / nannies
• Ensure play areas are kept neat, clean, and organized. Examples include sorting storage of toys and books according to age, rotating toys and books on display every week
• Travel with the family when required and maintain continuity of education during travel.
