We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate post-doctoral senior research fellow to help lead and work on a funded research project that investigates the development of personalized cooling systems leveraging thermoelectric cooling technology. The aim of the research is to design a personalized cooling device for mixed-mode ventilation and natural ventilation environments in the tropics. The postdoctoral senior research fellow will be supervised by the principal investigator Dr. Adrian Chong from the Department of the Built Environment, College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore.

  • Lead the design optimization of a personalized cooling system by simulating various geometries, materials, and thermoelectric module configurations using COMSOL.
  • Develop and execute parametric studies to evaluate system performance under diverse operating scenarios, including power limitations, ambient environmental conditions, and human-device interactions
  • Validate simulation models using experimental data or benchmark datasets, and iterate designs to improve thermal and energy performance.
  • Develop detailed transient and steady-state CFD models using ANSYS to aid the design and validation of the personalized cooling system.
  • Design, supervise, and conduct prototyping and experimental campaigns, including setup of instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis
  • Document and communicate project progress through technical reports, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed journal publications.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, materials, and electrical engineers, and engage with external partners to ensure alignment with translational and commercialization goals
  • Support proposal writing, grant reporting, and documentation required for institutional and agency deliverables.
  • Assist in mentoring junior researchers or students and provide technical oversight in relevant sub-projects
  • Perform other duties as required to support the success of the research program
