Roles & Responsibilities
The General Worker plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of New Hope Community Services’ facilities. This position involves hands-on responsibilities such as maintaining cleanliness, handling inventory, setting up spaces for events, and performing minor repairs. The General Worker ensures that the environment remains safe, clean, and functional for both residents and staff. The role requires physical stamina, a proactive attitude, and the ability to respond flexibly to changing site needs, all while upholding the organisation’s standards of care and service.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Maintenance Support
- Conduct routine inspections of common areas and facilities, identifying maintenance needs and promptly reporting them to the team.
- Perform minor repair tasks where appropriate or escalate issues to external vendors as needed.
- Support the maintenance of a clean, safe, and orderly environment in all designated areas.
- Facilitate maintenance requests by coordinating with vendors and internal teams.
- Ensure adherence to facility usage guidelines (e.g., laundry and common room policies) and report any misuse or safety concerns to the team.
Logistics & Inventory
Assist in the setup and teardown of furniture and equipment for events, meetings, or operational needs.Support the movement and delivery of supplies, furniture, and equipment across sites when required.Monitor and track inventory levels of essential supplies.Assist with organising storerooms and conduct periodic stock checks to ensure supplies are accounted for and replenished as needed.Cleaning & Upkeep
Carry out daily and weekly cleaning duties for common areas, toilets, offices, and other assigned spaces.Sanitize high-touch surfaces and ensure adequate stock of hygiene supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and sanitiser.Support periodic deep cleaning tasks, including water jetting or pressure cleaning where necessary.Others

Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, such as inspections, lifting, and prolonged periods of standing or walking.Ability to lift up to 15kg and move equipment or supplies as needed.Capacity to work in varying environmental conditions encountered during facility inspections and maintenance tasks.Qualifications & Skills
Experience :
Prior experience in operations, facility management, or community engagement is preferred.Skills :
Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to enforce rules while maintaining a supportive and collaborative tenant relationship.Familiarity with maintenance coordination, inventory tracking, and scheduling tasks.Proven physical fitness to manage the demands of routine manual tasks and emergency response.Personal Attributes :
