ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Senior Systems Engineer will engage with key stakeholders, including; solution architects, speciality engineers (Safety, Security, HF), ILS and ATM subject matter experts to prepare and deliver requirement and design changes with reference to a defined system functional baseline to satisfy customer needs and project / bid cost targets.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Sr. Systems Engineer, you are accountable for :

  • Design, develop and document solutions to meet customer requirements, whilst ensuring the integrity of the System functional baseline and architecture
  • Define solutions that deliver the best trade-off between requirements, cost, schedule and risk, which meet our customer’s needs
  • Ensure the transversal constraints related to the function are considered (Safety, Human Factor, Performance, Security)
  • Lead the technical reviews, including internal and with the Customer
  • Lead technical working groups both internally and externally to define technical solution
  • Proactively participate in PI planning and backlog refinement including contributing to the effort estimation
  • Prepare Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Problem Change Requests (PCRs)
  • Develop and manage traceability of requirements using DOORS, including the Functional, Allocated and Product baselines.
  • Perform peer reviews of engineering documentation written by other team members
  • Proactively support your Squad members (software, integration and verification)
  • Support the Product Owner (PO) and Scrum Master (SM)Make recommendations on strategies to improve performance or productivityIdentify risks, and proposing effective solution early and executing mitigation actionsProvide input into the planning and coordination of program integration activities
  • Promote knowledge sharing ensuring that work is captured sufficiently for re-use across projects
  • Provide technical oversight to the Squads within the broader team, ensuring that the designed solution is implemented as per the design and in accordance to the schedule and cost and quality constraints.
  • Define and report on KPIs for the function
  • Work in accordance with the defined Thales processes and practices, and contribute to their improvement.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and / or acquired the following knowledge and experience :

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, IT or related discipline
  • Postgraduate studies in Systems Engineering (Desirable)
  • Essential Experience

  • Air Traffic Management in one or more of the following functional areas : CoordinationSurveillanceAdaptation / ConfigurationInterpartition / SWIMProfileHMITowerSimulation and TrainingSafety Nets / Conflict DetectionAMAN / DMAN
  • Proven experience in Systems Engineering (7+ years) including; Requirements, Design, Integration and Verification and Validation
  • Experience with Systems Engineering Standards eg. ISO / IEC15288
  • Proven experience in the ATM Domain and related standards eg. ICAO, Eurocontrol
  • Proven experience in the development of products and projects in a variety of methodologies, with a particular focus on iterative / agile development
  • Proven experience working in an Agile framework
  • Experience with Safety, Security and Human Factors standards and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve effective outcomes in a multidiscipline, multi-culture environment
  • Coaching and sharing of his / her know-how
  • Capability to manage various stakeholders having different objectives
  • A positive attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • Comfort in facing and managing complexity
  • Sound judgement and independent decision-making capability where necessary
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Desirable :

  • Experience in System Engineering tools eg. DOORs, Polarian, Jira
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and tools eg. Capella, Enterprise Architect
  • Experience in working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • French Literacy
  • General / Special Requirements
