Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation & Budgeting : Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates from feasibility through to final accounts.
- Tendering & Procurement : Manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and advise on contractor selection.
- Contract Management : Draft, review, and administer contracts (often using standard forms like FIDIC, JCT, or NEC).
- Valuations & Payments : Assess progress claims, variations, and issue interim and final payments.
- Risk & Value Management : Identify cost risks and opportunities to optimize value for money.
- Reporting : Provide regular financial reports to clients and stakeholders, including cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete analyses.
- Team Leadership : Mentor junior QS staff and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients.
📚 Qualifications & Skills
Education : Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.Certifications : Often chartered with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or similar bodies.Technical Skills :
Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., CostX, CATO, Bluebeam)Strong understanding of construction methods and materialsFamiliarity with local building codes and regulations (e.g., BCA in Singapore)Soft Skills :Negotiation and stakeholder managementAnalytical thinking and attention to detailLeadership and communication🌏 Singapore Context
