Job descriptionA1 or A2 grade for GCE 'O' level English subject or an A grade for GCE 'A' level General Paper. Experience in teaching primary school English composition or creative writing in enrichment or tuition centres for at least 2 years. Experience in teaching students online via Zoom or similar online platforms. Able to manage students and engage them during online lessons. Experience in marking students' compositions and providing detailed and constructive written and verbal feedback. Excellent knowledge of primary school English composition syllabus and latest PSLE composition format and requirements. Excellent competency in spoken and written English. Excellent competency in English grammar and vocabulary. Able to work from home to conduct lessons online. Only Singaporeans or PRs. Experience in writing, copywriting or journalism will have an added advantage. NIE-trained former MOE school teachers with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and Literature will have an added advantage. Patient and enjoys working with children. Lively and able to conduct interesting lessons. Able to motivate weak writers and help them improve their writing skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to engage and communicate clearly with students and parents. Meticulous, organised, and a team player who can work in organisation with processes. Willing to undergo training and receive feedback on teaching and marking. Has a positive attitude. Committed to delivering lessons with excellence. Proficient with PDF, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Must own a decent Windows-based Operating System laptop (Windows 10) or a Macintosh Laptop. Have at least 100 Mbps home internet connection. Has a conducive teaching environment at home. Lessons are conducted on weekdays between 3 pm to 9 pm and Saturdays between 9.15 am to 6 pm. No teaching on Sundays and Public Holidays. from January 2026. Lesson materials and curriculum provided by the Centre. Additional online classes will be given after 3-4 months of observation (for freelancers). Option to convert to part-time or full-time teaching once proven (for freelancers). Lessons are conducted 100% online. However, the candidate could be offered to teach on-site, if preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach English composition writing to primary school students (online classes only) between 2 to 8 per class.
- Marking of students' work and composition (with Acrobat Reader software).
- Communicate with parents on students' progress via ClassDojo.
