Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our Singapore Branch. This role will provide comprehensive legal support across banking and financial services, ensuring full compliance with Singapore’s regulatory framework and supporting the Bank’s business growth.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide legal advice on a broad spectrum of banking and financial matters, including regulatory compliance, corporate governance, data protection (PDPA), outsourcing, and commercial contracts.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements such as loan agreements (bilateral and syndicated), treasury and capital markets documentation, outsourcing agreements, and service agreements.
- Draft, review, and advise on derivatives documentation including ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes (CSAs), and related contracts.
- Develop, review, and implement internal legal and compliance policies, ensuring alignment with MAS Notices, outsourcing guidelines, and cross-border regulations.
- Support the resolution of disputes, litigation, and regulatory investigations, including engagement and management of external counsel.
- Collaborate with business units on new products, intragroup agreements, and business initiatives, ensuring legal soundness and regulatory compliance.
- Manage relationships with external law firms to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal services.
- Deliver internal training sessions to raise awareness of legal and regulatory developments and internal compliance frameworks.
- Act as a key deputy to the Head of Legal & Compliance, including covering responsibilities during their absence.
Requirements :
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university; LLM or additional legal certifications in banking / financial law will be an advantage.Admitted to the Singapore Bar, with 2–4 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).Prior legal experience in banking and financial services (either from a reputable law firm or in-house at a financial institution) is essential.Strong knowledge of Singapore banking regulations, MAS requirements, PDPA, outsourcing guidelines, and financial transaction structures.Experience with ISDA documentation, loan agreements, and treasury / capital markets products preferred.Excellent contract negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills, with the ability to balance business needs and legal risks.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-border banking environment.Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their resumes along with a cover letter outlining their relevant experience and achievements to apply79@talentvis.com or click apply now!
