Job role
The Lifting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the setup, maintenance, and safe and efficient operation of the lifting equipment. The candidate is responsible for coordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with applicable regulations and must be present during all lifting operations.
He / She is required to be systematic and mechanically inclined, to use and operate rigging / lifting equipment and execute operations. He / She is also expected to work in rotating shifts and under time pressure.
Job tasks
- Coordinate and be physically present to supervise all lifting activities in accordance with the safe lifting plan and procedure.
- Ensure that only registered and appointed crane operators, certified signalmen, and riggers participate in any lifting operation involving the use of any cranes.
- Ensure that the ground conditions are safe for the lifting operations to be performed by a crane.
- Conduct a briefing on the Lifting Plan, Risk Assessment & Safe Work Procedure to the signalman, riggers and crane operators.
- Ensure that crane operators conduct daily checks of their assigned lifting machines and appliances before the start of their work shift.
- Check the validity of the lifting machine certificate by the Approved Person and the maintenance inspection program.
- Conduct daily lifting coordination meeting with lifting crew (lifting supervisor, riggers, signalman) for effective consultation, communication and coordination before commencement of work.
- Ensure compliance with relevant government regulations and the company’s quality, safety, health and environmental (QSHE) policies, practices and procedures at all times.
- Take immediate corrective actions if unsafe acts or conditions are observed.
- Stop work if there is any unsafe condition or deviation from the lifting plan.
- Perform any other tasks as may be assigned.
- Maintain records of inspections, lifting plans, permits, and crew qualifications. Ensure the maintenance regime summary is monitored and maintained.
