Job descriptionDiploma / Nitec / Bachelor's in Welding Engineering or related discipline CSWIP certification preferred Proficient in various welding methods (e.g., metal arc, gas cutting, PP welding) Experience in heavy industry or power plant environments is an advantage Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics Strong understanding of welding metallurgy and heat analysis Capable of working independently, handling heavy lifting, and extended physical tasks Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) specific to power plant needs
- Prepare, inspect, and maintain welding tools and equipment, ensuring operational safety
- Analyze blueprints and technical drawings to plan and execute welding tasks
- Select appropriate welding techniques (e.g., 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G, orbital welding) based on material and application
- Oversee and perform welding operations on structural and piping systems
- Conduct welding inspections and quality checks, and document results
- Troubleshoot welding issues and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout all welding activities
