Superconducting Research Specialist

This role is part of a research project focused on the development of integrated superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs). The specialist will contribute to experimental, design and numerical efforts exploring various strategies to improve detection efficiency of the SNSPDs, and optimize their integration and packaging.

The specialist will be involved in the entire process of design fabrication and characterisation of the integrated detectors. This includes working on design and simulation of the performance of integrated SNSPDs, developing a fabrication workflow for integration of SNSPDs in waveguides, characterizing and optimizing device performance, designing photon number resolution schemes for integrated SNSPDs, and developing cryogenic-compatible chip packaging.

Key Responsibilities :

• Optimise the performance of integrated superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs).
• Develop and implement efficient fabrication workflows for integrating SNSPDs in waveguides.
• Characterize and optimize device performance through experimentation and simulation.
• Design and develop photon number resolution schemes for integrated SNSPDs.
• Develop cryogenic-compatible chip packaging solutions.
• Conduct experiments in cleanrooms, growth laboratories and laser laboratories.
• Utilize simulation software for modeling of experiments.
• Participate in safety and other required training programs as per policy.
• Engage in national and international travel.
