Job Description

About the Role

The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant in the Department of Ophthalmology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and senior researchers to provide research and administrative support for new and ongoing projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of outcomes.

Main duties and responsibilities

Research support : Conduct literature reviews and assist in the preparation of research materials.

Perform molecular and cell biology experiments (e.g., PCR, Western blotting, immunostaining).

Assist with experiments related to 3D printing materials for cell culture, stem cell differentiation to retinal cell culture, and extracellular vesicle (EV) harvest.

Monitor, document, and report experimental results and findings accurately.

Data management and analysis : Collect, curate, and analyze research data.

Contribute to the preparation of reports, scientific manuscripts, and other publications.

Project coordination and guidance : Support project planning, tracking, and coordination tasks.

Provide guidance to undergraduate students as needed.

Communication and dissemination : Prepare presentations and manuscripts on research findings.

Report results to the PI and participate in regular lab meetings.

Laboratory operations : Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, safe, and compliant lab environment.

Assist in procurement and inventory management of lab supplies.

Educational contributions : Occasionally support instructional or training activities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering or relevant disciplines
  • Prior experience is highly preferred; candidates without retinal cell culture experience are also welcome to apply\
  • Strong scientific writing skills
