Roles & Responsibilities
Working Hours :
- During school term (inclusive of 1 hour lunch break) :
- Mondays to Thursdays : 7.30am to 3.45pm
- Fridays : 8 : 30am to 5 : 30pm
- During school holidays (inclusive of 1 hour lunch break) :
- 8.00am to 12.00 pm; or 12.00pm to 4.00pm
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.
Requirements :
Physically capable of performing manual tasks , including lifting and moving kitchen equipmentDemonstrates ability to work independently with minimal supervisionPossess relevant experience in : Food preparation and kitchen operations in educational institutions; Following food safety and hygiene protocols; Kitchen maintenance and inventory management; Supporting practical food lessons and examinations in schoolsPossess competency in operating standard kitchen equipment , including : Commercial ovens, Microwave ovens, Food steamers, Blenders and food processorsPossess administrative capabilities , including : Processing and verifying food orders; Managing kitchen inventory; Handling supplier invoices and documentation; Maintaining accurate recordsPossess excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to : Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and school administrators; Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers; Work as part of a school support teamJob Scope :
1. NFS Kitchen Housekeeping and Maintenance
Maintain orderliness and safety standards in the NFS food laboratory (kitchen) and preparation room , including : Laundering of cleaning cloths and aprons; Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and utensils; Organisation of student workstations, including table tops, drawers and sinks after each lesson; Other related maintenance duties as requiredManage kitchen equipment and appliancesSupport security and safety procedures by verifying that main gas taps, electrical switches are off and knives are properly secured at the end of the day.Ensure proper food storage management, including : Appropriate storage of leftover items; Ingredient sorting based on expiry dates2. Food Preparation and Hygiene Management
Transport food ingredients / materials from Level 1 to the NFS kitchens at Level 3.Execute pre-lesson ingredient preparation , including : Cutting, weighing and portioning of ingredients; Setting up common ingredients at the centre table; Organise and store ingredients appropriately in refrigerators and cupboardsDemonstrate proficiency in operating kitchen and food science equipment, including : Hand-held blenders; Electric steamers; Rice cookers; Stop watches; Weighing scalesPerform additional food preparation and hygiene-related dut ies as required3. Administrative Functions
Process and verify food ordersMaintain and update food supply inventory records for NFS teachersProvide operational support to NFS teachers during laboratory sessionsManage documentation , including : Food order verification; Receipt filing and labelling; Other related administrative tasksTell employers what skills you have
