System Architect (Ref.No. R1008530)

The System Architect (Project Design Authority) plays a critical role in designing and implementing secure, scalable, and high-performance network solutions for train system-related subsystems, including CCTV, Passenger Announcement Systems, Master Clock, SCADA, Tetra Radio and other critical infrastructure. This role ensures that the overall architecture aligns with project requirements, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.
This position reports functionally to the Engineering Director and operationally to the Project Manager while interfacing with various stakeholders, including internal technical teams, vendors, and customers.
He / she interfaces with the Technical Directorate from the Business Line as representative of the technical solution for a project or bid solution.
You will enjoy having these responsibilities :
- Design and oversee the architecture of network solutions that integrate with train control and station subsystems such as CCTV, Passenger Information Systems (PIS), Public Announcement (PA) systems, and Master Clock synchronization.
- Ensure network infrastructure and overall system solutions meets security, performance, and redundancy requirements for mission-critical transportation systems.
- Conduct trade studies to evaluate design alternatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with system integrators, software developers, and hardware vendors to define and implement optimal solutions.
- Lead discussions with customers and internal teams to define system and subsystem requirements and architecture.
- Provide technical guidance and approval for system architecture, ensuring alignment with business and operational needs.
- Oversee the documentation of designs to meet project and customer requirements.
- Review and evaluate third-party solutions for compatibility with Hitachi Rail’s ground transportation systems.
- Drive multi-project synergies to optimize the cost and efficiency of technical solutions.
- Define policies, standards, and best practices for engineering teams in collaboration with the Systems Engineering Manager.
- Flexible to support both projects and bid proposals as a key technical representative
You have :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.Industry certifications such as AWS Certification, CISCO Certification (CCNP, CCIE), or equivalent are highly desirable.Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior network engineering or architecture role.Expertise in architecting complex solutions, including hardware and software integration with focus on networking but understanding in other subsystemsStrong experience in IT infrastructure design, large-scale networking, virtualization, and containerization.In-depth understanding of software architectures, including N-Tier Architecture, SOA, and microservices.Experience working with transportation communication systems such as SCADA, Public Announcement Systems, Passenger Information Systems, and Tetra Radio.Strong knowledge of network security, redundancy, and failover strategies in mission-critical systems.Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and handling multiple concurrent projects.Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and technical teams.Membership in relevant professional organizations such as INCOSE or the Institution of Engineers Singapore is preferred.Experience with data analytics and machine learning applications in transportation networks.Background in project management or system delivery management.Understanding of full Systems Engineering lifecycle principles.Tell employers what skills you have
