Our client is a multi-disciplinary and multinational team operating within the biotechnology industry. They are dedicated to expanding access to advanced technology to realize health equity globally (early detection, diagnosis, and new treatment options)

about the role

The Staff Bioinformatics Scientist will drive the development of secondary analysis algorithms for variant and biomarker detection, primarily to support treatment decisions based on a cancer's molecular profile. You'll be involved in designing R&D studies with external collaborators to demonstrate the clinical utility of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) in oncology treatment and prototyping software implementations. The role involves assessing and improving existing algorithms, prototyping novel ones , and providing technical guidance to collaborators.

skills and experience

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, math, or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience .
  • Fluency in at least two of the following : statistics, common bioinformatics methods, NGS analysis, and oncology .
  • Proven experience developing bioinformatics NGS algorithms and methodology .
  • Fluency in programming languages such as Python is required, with experience in C++ being desired.
  • Good communication skills to contribute to cross-functional project teams and work with stakeholders.
  • Must have a background in algorithm development, biomarkers, and oncology .
