Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Project Manager to lead and deliver complex SAP transformation and implementation projects within the Public Sector. The role involves end-to-end project management, stakeholder engagement with government entities, ensuring compliance with public sector standards, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and in alignment with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead SAP implementation, upgrade, and rollout projects for public sector clients (e.g., finance, procurement, HR, payroll, and citizen services).

Manage end-to-end project lifecycle : initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.

Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with public sector regulations.

Coordinate across SAP functional and technical teams (FI / CO, MM, HCM, SRM, BW, etc.) to ensure timely and quality delivery.

Monitor project budgets, resource utilization, risks, and quality standards.

Prepare and present progress reports, dashboards, and executive summaries to public sector stakeholders and steering committees.

Ensure adherence to public sector policies, data security, compliance, and audit requirements.

Manage vendor relationships, including SAP, third-party service providers, and system integrators.

Drive change management and user adoption strategies for public sector users.

Mitigate risks and resolve issues proactively to avoid project delays and overruns.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.

10+ years of IT project management experience, with at least 5+ years leading SAP projects (implementation, rollout, or upgrade).

Proven track record managing SAP projects within the Public Sector / Government / PSU environment.

Strong knowledge of SAP modules commonly used in public sector : SAP FI / CO, MM, HCM, SRM, Payroll, Funds Management (FM), and Grants Management (GM).

Experience with public sector procurement, budgeting, and compliance frameworks.

Strong understanding of PMI / Prince2 / Agile methodologies.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, especially in engaging with government officials and decision-makers.

Certifications preferred : PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, or SAP Activate Project Manager.

Key Competencies

Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.

Ability to navigate public sector compliance, governance, and reporting requirements.

Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.

Strong financial and budget management skills.

Proficiency in preparing project documentation for audits and public sector reporting.

High adaptability to work within bureaucratic structures and government environments.
