The Role
HDR is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Singapore Building Engineering Services (BES) team. This position will be working on projects across a range of markets, primarily the Mission Critical sector.
The principal activities of the role will be :
- Undertaking Mechanical design deliverables such as calculations, reports, design and technical documentations.
- Agree level of service, and project design duties with your Group Leader, for each project, understand relationship with fee.
- Assist Group Leader with monitoring engineering / CAD resource requirement for each project within your control.
- Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, involve in tender and contract process, review contractor submission, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs.
- Liaise with the contractor / PM team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Provide positive contribution to design / project meetings. Maintain regular ‘in house’ design reviews and checks.
- Monitor and control design progress, design variations.
- Monitor contract staff or third-party appointments
- Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- When acting as design team leader, co-ordinate with other project disciplines.
- Assist Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training / CPD requirements. Help develop working practices in the Company.
- Implement and manage filing systems and procedures on all projects.
- Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs respond to the local regulations.
- Assist Professional Engineer in liaison, preparation and follow up of Authority Submission.
- Work closely with Clients / Architects / Structural Engineers / Quantity Surveyors, etc.
- Assist Project Manager in upkeeping the project ISO quality documentation and records.
- Senior engineers must be able to lead projects and supervise a team of engineers / technicians.
- Undertake technical reviews of the project (and MEP team input provided to other projects) at appropriate stages to ensure that the project approach and deliverables.
- Satisfy the client's brief and expectations
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical EngineeringFamiliar with local code and authority submission procedure.Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.Commitment to continuous professional development, both for own development as well as that of team membersMission Critical Design / Data Centre Design Experience is an added advantage.Design experience with BIM is an added advantage.Knowledge consulting experience and successful project management experience in the MEP sector is an added advantage.Appreciates teamwork and good interpersonal skills.Singaporean or PRBenefits and Culture
