Job description

Roles & Responsibilities

Store Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day supermarket operations (sales floor, cash counters, inventory, logistics).
  • Ensure smooth workflow across departments : fresh produce, grocery, frozen, household, and non-food.
  • Monitor opening and closing procedures , staff attendance, and shift handovers.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, safety, and compliance with NEA, SFA, and MOM regulations.

Staff Management & Training

  • Supervise and lead department supervisors, team leaders, and store staff .
  • Manage staff scheduling, rostering, and manpower allocation (especially for peak hours / weekends).
  • Conduct staff training in customer service, product knowledge, safety, and hygiene.
  • Motivate staff, resolve conflicts, and manage performance appraisals .
  • Inventory & Stock Control

  • Oversee stock ordering, replenishment, and storage .
  • Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, wastage, and shrinkage (loss prevention).
  • Work closely with suppliers and vendors for timely delivery and quality control .
  • Implement inventory audits and reduce out-of-stock situations.
  • Sales & Customer Service

  • Ensure high standards of customer service on the shop floor.
  • Handle customer complaints, feedback, and escalations effectively.
  • Monitor sales performance, track KPIs (sales per sqm, average basket size).
  • Drive promotions, merchandising, and marketing campaigns .
  • Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure supermarket follows Singapore regulations (Workplace Safety & Health, Employment Act, SFA food hygiene).
  • Conduct safety drills and checks (fire exits, equipment, refrigeration units).
  • Monitor cash handling and fraud prevention procedures.
  • Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Manage store budget, expenses, and cost control .
  • Prepare sales reports, staff productivity reports, and profit & loss statements for management.
  • Optimize operational efficiency to increase profitability.
  • Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Support expansion plans, new product launches, and business strategies .
