Legal Counsel

Job descriptionSTAR Legal provides value-added legal, corporate and policy advice for the A STAR group. You will engage with senior management of the various constituents of A STAR group, partner and lead key internal clients, including top researchers, policy makers, technology transfer professionals, and deal with external collaborators which include Public Sector Agencies, Hospitals and IHLs, MNCs, LLEs and SMEs. As an integral member of the business and commercial teams, you will facilitate and lead deal closure and ensure that legal risks and liabilities are managed. You will be involved in designing appropriate agreements such as for collaborative research projects, commercialization and licence transactions, joint ventures, M&A and investment transactions, funding and grant arrangements, structure complex deals and work across agencies and institutions, structure and craft policies, and collaborate with Public Agencies on emerging legislation. This is a challenging and multifaceted role and you will operate within a team of experienced and highly skilled legal professionals.
Requirements :
- Possess a LLB (Honours) degree and be admitted to practice at the Singapore bar. Admission to practice in other jurisdictions will be an advantage but not a requirement
- With 2-6 years of experience in corporate and commercial law and contract negotiations either in private practice or in-house. Knowledge and experience of intellectual property law and technology licensing, and M&A transactions will be an advantage
- Ability to work independently whilst being a strong team player
- Ability to lead projects and taskforces
- Be creative and innovative in solving problems
- Strong analytical and communication skills
