Job role :
- The Senior Civil and Structural Engineer drives the overall execution of projects based on project requirements. Candidate reviews designs, specifications, calculations, and other submittals, and oversees the project assessment phases.
- Candidate ensures the designs and models developed are in accordance with project requirements. Candidate leads the tendering processes and manages a team of engineers and ensures continuous performance improvement.
- The candidate may also be expected to perform the responsibilities of a Qualified Person in accordance with the Building Control Act.
- The Senior Civil and Structural Engineer possesses excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- The candidate is adept in civil and structural practices and is skilled in project management.
- The candidate possesses leadership skills and is an effective communicator.
- The candidate is required to work both in the office and at project sites.

Critical Work Functions – Define project scope and requirements
Review the outcomes of feasibility studiesReview the proposed solutionsDevelop risk management plans and risk controlsReview project scope and requirements in alignment with relevant stakeholder objectivesAssist the PD / PM in overseeing the construction activities and progress, planning, implementation, and monitoring work schedules in accordance with the master and detailed work programAble to deal with PE and C&S consultants, e.g., understand C&S drawing and spec for building, propose structure VE, review structure design and calculation by C&S consultantAble to study and discuss any technical issue with consultants and specialist subcontractors to work out practical solutions with a background in construction workCritical Work Functions – Drive design development
Review conceptual designs based on project requirementsReview schematic designs for project viabilityReview structural loads and stresses calculationsReview detailed designs based on technical feasibility and alignment with project requirementsReview engineering analysis models for design and engineering conflicts to determine the impact on the timeframe for completionReview legislative submissions for all project stagesDrive implementation of environmental sustainability and green building strategiesCritical Work Functions –Drive tendering processes
Participate in the initial planning and bidding processes, including reviewing environmental factors, government regulations, construction costs, and risk analysis reports to prepare a comprehensive study on all relevant design factorsReview quantitative estimates for project costs and resources with technical expertsReview project schedules, resource requirements and project success metricsReview contractual and tender terms in alignment with requirements and negotiated termsReview contractors' and subcontractors' tender bidsCritical Work Functions –Oversee project execution
Review contractors' and subcontractors' work against project requirements and quality standardsReview drawings, plans, and change orders to verify the structural integrity of materials and designs and perform complex calculations and use modelling methods to ensure correct resultsEnsure progress in accordance with the schedule, quality standards are maintained, site inspections are carried out and technical / drawing issues are resolved on timeReview the results of testing and commissioning for successful project handoversReview the defect resolutionsReview as-built designs for accuracyCritical Work Functions –Manage people and organisational functions
Re-prioritise work activities and manpower allocation to mitigate delays in project deliveryIdentify areas for technical and business management training and developmentLiaise with consultants / authorities on drawing and technical issues and coordinate the site activities with subcontractorsProvide guidance to supervisors in relation to site worksMonitor achievement of key project milestonesMonitor financial health of daily operationsDevelop relationships with prospective clients for business development opportunitiesReview resolution of variations and liquidated damagesEnsure site safety and prepare safe work procedures with safety personnelJob requirements :
Recognized Degree in Building Construction Management, Civil and / or Structural Engineering, building discipline or equivalentMinimum 5-7 years experience in the Singapore Construction Industry, high-rise commercial building / mixed development / semiconductor factory / healthcare building project is preferred.Knowledge in BIMMust be familiar with the Singapore Construction Industry Code of Practice, rules, and regulations in accordance with the Professional Engineers Act; Resident Engineer Accreditation; Resident Technical Engineer Accreditation; Building Control Act; Fire Safety Act & Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) ActDesired attributes :
