Department Description
Fidelity has Trading desks operating across the globe, covering Equities, Fixed Income and FX cash and derivative products in order to facilitate the trading needs of the various Investment Teams across the firm - Equities, Fixed Income and Multi-Asset. Teams are located in Hong Kong, Shanghai, London, Dublin and Toronto via the joint venture FCAM.
The Equity Trading team in Hong Kong manages the execution and liquidity requirements for all FIL and FCAM funds as it relates to the APAC markets. Traders actively engage with the investment team in order to deliver best execution. The expansion of the Equity Trading team to Singapore will mirror the presence in Hong Kong in order to work seamlessly in terms of function and support for FIL and FCAM funds.
Purpose of your role :
To understand market liquidity to manage the risks and overall cost of implementing equity investment ideas. The trader is responsible for maintaining bespoke service models for assigned Portfolio Manager and Country / Sector Coverage. The trader is to focus on the acquisition and dissemination of non-commoditized market information such as liquidity events, flow dislocations, upcoming market events, short interest & derivatives positioning, all with an eye to how these may impact the fund’s short / medium term outlook.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage order flow and trade execution in assigned markets / sectors
- Pro-actively engage Portfolio Manager and Analyst teams
- Knowledge of equity trading, market structure and portfolio construction challenges, advising Portfolio Managers on implementation of different trading strategies
- Elevate the profile of the Singapore Trading desk locally, externally and internally
- Assist the preparation of reports in response to local regulatory inquiries or onsite inspection
- Proactively engage with broker relationships and market participants.
- Protect and where possible enhance Fidelity’s reputation in the marketplace.
- Engage with TCA, quantitative inputs and technical analysis to reduce Fidelity trading costs where possible
- Work effectively and professionally with the business partners of Global Equity Trading including compliance and risk management, IT systems, and other similar groups
- Work such hours as required for coverage of assigned sectors, markets and Portfolio Managers.
- To be familiar with and adhere to Fidelity Global Trading Policies and Procedures
- To be familiar with and adhere to Fidelity’s best execution & order handling policies
- To be familiar with and adhere to the provisions of Fidelity’s Code of Ethics
- To be familiar with and adhere to local rules and regulations around equity trading and best execution.
- Be aware of the current Anti-Money Laundering requirements as they affect the business
Experience and Qualifications Required
Knowledge of cash equity, listed and OTC derivative trading. Familiarity with Greater China, India, and ASEAN markets will be an advantageExperience with Charles River’s Order Management SystemFamiliarity with Virtu’s Triton Execution Management System, and with dark block crossing venues (Liquidnet, Posit, Blockcross)Ability to negotiate with brokers and manage relationships effectivelyAbility to own and develop Portfolio Manager and Analyst relationshipsAbility to prioritise and manage own workload effectively in a busy environment and to deadlinesStrong attention to detail and accuracyStrong verbal and written communication skillsLanguage : English fluencyBackground in data analytics and statistical analysis will be helpfulTell employers what skills you have
