TheSchool of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking to hire aResearch Fellow to develop novel AI-enhanced design methods forheat exchanger for energy saving purpose. The candidate will workon multi-physics numerical simulations, machine learning andmanufacturability constrained design optimization. We expect thecandidate to deliver optimized designs with improved thermalexchange efficiency and satisfying the additive manufacturingprocess requirements.

KeyResponsibilities :

The Research Fellowwill work on a cross-disciplinary project at the intersection offluid mechanics, numerical simulation, design optimization andmachine learning. The key responsibilities of this positioninclude :

  • Perform numerical simulationto solve heat transfer problems
  • Develop machinelearning-based surrogate models
  • Perform designoptimization based on AI
  • Incorporatemanufacturability concerns
  • Collaborate withinternal and external stakeholder on energysystems
  • Maintenance of lab or equipment orsupplies that include procurement and liaison withsuppliers
  • Assist or produce high qualityreports and documents that consolidate researchfindings
  • Mentoring PhD and thesis-based masterstudents
  • Assist in grantwritings

JobRequirements :

Required educationalqualification, experience, skills and competencies for thisposition :

  • PhD in MechanicalEngineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, IndustrialEngineering, Machine Learning, or relatedfields
  • Expertise in numerical simulation ofmulti-physics systems
  • Expertise in data-drivenand machine learning research
  • Proficiency inbasics of programming languages such as C++, Python, and / orMatlab
  • Strong understanding of researchmethodologies, data analysis, and statisticaltechniques
  • Ability to work both independentlyand collaboratively within a team
  • Effectivewritten and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conveyinformation, collaborate and buildrelationship
  • Ability to produce technicalcontent for publications and deliver informative presentations todiverse audience including students
  • Stronganalytical and problem-solving skills to analyse and interpretresearch data
  • Attention to details and acommitment to upholding ethical standards in all researchactivities
  • Passion in the field of research anda desire to contribute to meaningfulprojects
  • Proficiency in English speaking andwriting for research work
  • Publication trackrecord is an advantage for thisposition
