The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences
Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre
of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation,
Ministry of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and
National University of Singapore (NUS). Hosted by NTU in
partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life
sciences with expertise from emerging technologies in engineering
and natural sciences to understand, harness and control microbial
biofilm communities.
We are looking for a
Research Associate to carry out quantitative analysis of microbial
populations in biofilms formed in geothermal outflow in Singapore.
The role will focus on quantitation of active populations and
analysis of functional genomic potential. Expertise in
next-generation sequencing, metagenomic analysis, and geothermal
microbial ecology is essential. The candidate must also have
superior writing skills and a track record of
publication.
Key
Responsibilities : Develop and use
workflow for sequencing with use of internal standards for
quantitation
Complete ongoing analysis of
existing metagenomic datasets
Submit and
revise currently drafted manuscripts for publication
Draft, submit and revise manuscript on metagenomic
analysis for publication
Required
educational qualification, experience, skills and
competencies
Master's Degree in
related field
Hands-on experience in
geothermal microbial ecology field work
Proficiency in bioinformatics for amplicon and
metagenomic sequencing
Ability to work
independently, meticulous and eye for details, excellent
organizational and time management
skills.
